Samsung UE40F6800 LED TV
This TV is loaded with features. It really stands out from the crowd in the LED TV range. With LED edge lighting to set the screen off against the surround this TV is an attractive model. Paired with the LED backlights is a top of the range high quality LCD panel that combines to give a fantastic quality display that rivals any of the sets of it's generation. Released in 2013 it was a fairly priced set especially when you look at the number of available features. Now on the refurbished, second-user and new but older models market, they have held their value well as you would expect for a TV of this calibre. That said they still offer fantastic return on investment. In a time when manufacturers espcially Samsung and LG were working on the less is more theory of reducing the TV surround to practically non-existant, this set stands out from its peers in having a wider, visible frame of clear glass. This makes it an ideal TV in homes with young kids running around offering protection to both the TV and your precious loved ones. It also helps to reduce the likelihood of damage when the wife (or yourself on a Saturday afternoon with 'I want to break free' blasting on the stereo!) catching the edge whilst cleaning. Personally I feel that this gives the set a much more clean cut finish that rounds the TV off nicely. It helps to maintain that 'TV' image rather than a television looking like an oversized moving image picture frame mounted on the wall. In some homes these sets look amazing and there is nothing wrong with them but there are homes whereby the finishing touches on this set just really help to the feel and finish of a room. Indeed it has a very modern feel to it and it could even be described as a masterpiece of design work creating a dramatic view with the transparent surround inlaid with a chic jet black shiny inlay. Very cutting edge!
Samsung also broke from the norm with the tabletop stand design on this model and moved away from the single pedestal design that was a signature mark on their part, instead opting for a new, very modern and stylish approach with a twin leg design. This has paid dividends in giving the set a stable and balanced look. The shiny feet are an unusual design that give the set an arty and very modern look. The twin feet design also adds to the stability of the set as there is no pedestal base for the TV to wobble on. The downside of this though is the lack of adjusment to the viewing angle. With the twin feet design once the TV is positioned that is it. With the pedestal the TV can be turned on the pedestal if the angle is just not quite right.
